Coping Tips
-
Feelings
Recognize that becoming a mother is a dramatic life change. Allow yourself a period of transition. Expect and accept that you will feel a wide array of emotions - Isolation
Feel free to sign up for lots of activities for yourself - they'll help
you avoid isolation. Reach out to other mothers for support.
Also, seek support from family, friends and parent groups. - Relationships
Make time for you and your partner, not only to be alone, but also to
share experiences. When out with your partner on a date, try not to discuss family matters. - Body Issues
Try not to pressure yourself about changes in your post-pregnancy
body. Don't be surprised if it takes nine months to a year to regain your
pre-pregnancy weight. - Final Thoughts
Emotions and mixed feelings are valid and normal - rest assured that
you're not alone. Realize that this period passes quickly, so enjoy this time with your baby
