Child & Family Support Programs
Family Advisory Committee
This Committee is made up of family members of children with special health care needs. These parents meet regularly to discuss how to make the hospital better for patients. This committee shapes the environment and hospital policy. This group was involved in the initial planning of the hospital and continues to provide guidance to administration on program and facility development. If you are an interested family member, please call The Family Learning Place at 718-741-2FLP (2357) for more information.
Family Representatives
Family Representatives are parents who have children with special health care needs. They help other families who have children with similar needs by sharing information and resources. If you would like to speak to a Family Representative, please call The Family Learning Place at 718-741-2FLP (2357) or ask your nurse or social worker.
Family Support Groups
Family Support Groups meet with families of children who have special health care needs. These groups provide comfort and support to families when a child is very sick. They also provide feedback to the hospital staff while sharing information with each other. Support groups are available in the hospital for those families who are coping with a child's chronic illness. Please visit The Family Learning Place for further information.
The Family Learning Place
