Home Visit Program
Most families wouldn't believe it if their child's pediatrician offered to make a house call. Particularly in the urban setting in which we live. But residents at CHAM do, several times per year, throughout all three years of their training.
Residents choose particular families whom they follow closely through home visits, focusing on deepening their relationship with the child and family, understanding the family's cultural backgrounds and community setting, and providing an opportunity for in-depth management of the child's health condition. The program director, Dr. Okun, directly supervises all care provided by our pediatrics residents.
All care is family-centered, prioritizing the values and opinions of the child and family. Residents are taught to work together with the family as full partners in the development of care plans for their children. Sensitive communication skills, empathy and flexibility are developed in the residents, and care is provided in a culturally effective manner.
The Resident Home Visit Program is one of the best reasons to choose one of our excellent residents to be your child's doctor!
