The Children's Hospital at Montefiore is one of only a few full service hospitals in the region devoted exclusively to the care of children. Our multi-disciplinary teams use specialized pediatric expertise to create a carefully tailored treatment plan for each child. Our comprehensive, child-oriented, family-centered approach to care means that each child and family who comes to CHAM will be given treatment which meets their needs.

Cutting edge advancements in surgery

The surgical specialists and support staff favor pioneering new technologies to make surgery as minimally invasive as possible while offering maximum benefits. We offer limited access surgery (endoscopy, laparoscopy) and robotic surgery. Laparoscopy has the benefit of less pain and tiny scars, while robotic surgery allows us to refine even common operations by working in miniature fields using magnification. These specialized techniques have important benefits for children. Such exactitude ensures the best surgical outcome.

The benefits of the day hospital

Seventy percent of our patients are now cared for in our Day Hospital, where children receive the tests, treatment or operation they need and go home to sleep in their own bed. Our Section of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology also offers chemotherapy to an increasing number of patients through the Day Hospital. Children treated in the Day Hospital benefit from the comfort and reassurance of their parents' presence, and the whole family can return to their own home at the end of the day.
