RESIDENCY

The Pediatric Neurology residency training program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited advanced program with formal links to the pediatrics residency program at CHAM. During the three years of neurology training, residents undergo instruction in clinical neurology from fellows and faculty at CHAM. Residents receive extensive subspecialty exposure and are required to pursue varied electives and original scholarly research while participating in weekly didactics and clinical rounds.

All applications for our residency positions must come through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) matching system. We are the university program for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Saul R.Korey Department of Neurology.

When applying through the NRMP, our programs are listed as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/University Program, 1853521002.

When your application is complete, you will be contacted by email to arrange a visit to the department for interviews with our faculty, a tour of our facilities and an opportunity to meet with our residents. Interviews are conducted on selected Wednesdays from November through January. Applicants are invited to a pre-interview dinner with our current house staff on the Tuesday evening prior to their interview date.

Training track options:

You must first complete two years (PGY 1&2) of an ACGME-approved training program in pediatrics before beginning your pediatric neurology training.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers two positions in Pediatric Neurology each year. One is a five-year, categorical program that includes two years of pediatrics residency at CHAM, followed by three years of neurology training. You apply to the categorical program with a single application.

The second position is a three-year advanced program. You have the option of doing your pediatrics training at CHAM. Alternatively, you are may choose to complete your pediatrics training at any ACGME-approved preliminary pediatrics training program. The three-year advanced program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center is joined to the two-year pediatrics preliminary training program at Montefiore Medical Center for those applicants who wish to complete their pediatrics training at CHAM. To apply for the two-year pediatrics preliminary program, you must send an application separate from your child neurology application to the preliminary pediatrics program at Montefiore Medical Center.
